Pennwood is adjacent to the Cotswold Way long distance footpath (ideal for expeditions), and there is also easy access to a host of other interlinked footpaths and bridleways making it easy to plan walks and hikes of just about any length.

Visit Stroud |

Stroud is only three miles from Pennwood and offers all the usual facilities of a small market town. Including:
Stratford Park and Leisure Centre with many sports on offer, an indoor pool (all year) and an outdoor swimming pool (May to September). Set in the surrounding park land is 'Stroud's Museum in the Park'
Stroud's ten pin bowling venue offers excellent entertainment with 16 bowling lanes and the latest in computerised bowling technology (Telephone 01453 762200)

Selsley Common (1 mile away) - ideal for kite flying, wide games and short hikes with fine views across at least four counties.

Coaley Peak (2 Miles away) - the site of a Neolithic long barrow dating back to 2900 BC and adjoining Frocester Hill (a National Trust nature reserve with a topograph to point out landscape features).
Hetty Pegler's Tump (4 miles away) - a second Neolithic long barrow with access allowing visitors to explore inside the structure of the long barrow.
Minchinhampton Common (4 miles away) is another large open space with great views. Next to the common is Winstone's Ice Cream Shop selling superb Cotswold ice cream.

Woodchester Mansion (2 miles away) - an architectural masterpiece of the Victorian age abandoned by its builders before it could be completed. The mansion also hosts a colony of bats which can often be seen at dusk.
Woodchester Park (2 miles away) - A wealth of opportunity for nature study in a former 18th- and 19th-century landscape park with a chain of five lakes, fringed by woodland pasture, now owned by the National Trust. |
